Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry procedures fix structural problems with your smile as well as achieve an aesthetically pleasing look. We provide several procedures at Dr. Hugh’s Dental PC.
Tech Alert: CEREC® CAD/CAM
CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) technology allows dentists to capture digital renderings of a patient’s teeth instead of using the age-old goopy mold model.
CEREC® is comprised of several computer-assisted design (CAD) tools and a milling machine that creates custom ceramic restorations.
More Tech: GALILEOS™ CBCT
In addition to the CEREC® CAD/CAM, at Dr. Hugh’s Dental PC we also use the GALILEOS™ CBCT. This imaging device is similar to a CT scan, but done right in the office. The highly detailed imaging of this “cone beam” scan not only shows the teeth, but it reveals nerve location, roots, jawbones, sinuses, and more. This is used for more in-depth procedures such as a root canals, implant planning and surgery, impacted teeth, bone grafting, and comprehensive treatment planning.
Together, these technologies provide a higher level of quality without the need for a lab, X-ray,
or extra weeks added to your treatment.
Power Whitening
Power whitening is a tooth-brightening technique that uses a combination of a whitening gel with and without light assistance to significantly whiten teeth in about one hour. It is the fastest, most effective whitening technique used today.
Veneers
Veneers are used to cover discolorations from coffee, tea, smoking, large fillings, or simply the dulling of the look of the enamel over time. They are also used to conceal worn, chipped, or broken teeth. Covering the damaged areas will improve the overall appearance of your smile. Misaligned, uneven, irregularly shaped, or gapped teeth may be improved aesthetically by using veneers. Using the CEREC® CAD/CAM , Dr. Hugh can obtain a highly accurate 3D rendering of your teeth as a model to create your veneer right in the office. The veneer is created by CEREC® based on this model, bonded to the tooth, and adjusted as needed for aesthetics and comfort.
Aesthetic Bonding
Tooth Bonding is another way to improve the look of your smile. Unlike veneers, bonding is not a hard shell. It is a procedure in which a tooth-colored resin is applied to your teeth and then shaped, hardened, and polished to match the surrounding teeth. This process can be used to cover stains or repair chipped teeth and other minor imperfections.
Dentures
With the the use of dental implants and Mini Implants, these dentures can be secured and removed for a better functioning fit and oral hygiene.
Dentures are a removable replacement appliance used for patients who are missing all or many teeth. The appliance is convenient and can be taken out for cleaning or sleep and put back into the mouth easily. Dentures may take some time to get used to, but with new technology, dentures have begun to look more natural and feel more comfortable than they ever have.
Root Canals
If the root of your tooth becomes inflamed or infected, a root canal may be necessary to remove debris, bacteria, and decay. GALILEOS™ CBCT will provide the imaging the damage and shape of the root. CEREC® CAD/CAM will provide the final aesthetic restoration to protect your root canal.
